What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is one of the more preferred treatments for acute and chronic pain. By definition, Osteopathy treats the musculoskeletal system in the body via manual therapy. Osteopaths investigate the reason for the pain rather than just providing symptomatic relief. Our hands on approach looks to balance the various rotations and strains throughout the body to provide the best possible results.

Osteopaths are experts in soft tissue massage, safe joint manipulation, stretching of joints and muscles as well as exercise and postural advice. Osteopathy is a long practiced form of manual therapy. Osteopathy developed out of the American Civil War by a field surgeon, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still. It is now studied at University for 5 years and we see Osteopaths working in professional sporting clubs, children’s clinics, chronic pain clinics and research institutions in Australia and around the world.
