Taping Into Pain

Whilst on my recent jaunt to Amsterdam, my ex-home and home of the cheese sandwich, I thought I’d better brush up on my Dutch skills and what better way to do that than by participating in a Kinesio Taping course that was being taken in Dutch.

Kinesio Tape is elasticised tape which has a number of applications from helping to reduce swelling to facilitating activation of weak muscles. Commonly it is used to treat lower back pain, knee pain, hip pain and shoulder complaints.

It’s a fantastic extra skill to bring back to Elsternwick Osteopathy as it is thought to assist in maintaining the effects of treatment for a longer period as the tape can remain on for up to 5 days. I would like to thank the lovely Dutch girl who sat next to me and helped to translate words I didn’t understand, your patience was appreciated.
